The Arts at JIS
At JIS, we firmly believe in the power and creative need for a major role for the arts in our curriculum. We integrate aspects of our Scope and Sequence into the arts programme while also teaching some as discrete areas of learning. Creativity is at the heart of everything we do. We aim to stimulate students through their environment and surroundings and inspire them to be creative themselves.
Our arts programme encompasses a range of visual, musical, and physical arts, offering students regular exposure to diverse learning opportunities. Using the IB Scope and Sequence as a foundation, we adapt and develop it into new learning and performance opportunities.

Students have access to a variety of facilities, including a spacious art room, music room, gym, and multi-purpose room for dance and drama activities. Our open corridors and classrooms encourage learning everywhere, not just within designated times or lessons.
Our artist-in-residence programme has brought artists and university students into the school to work alongside our students. This initiative is an integral part of our arts planning and allows us to go beyond the regular curriculum with expert support.
Each year, the school presents a musical concert or a large-scale drama production involving the whole school. Students are encouraged to participate in every aspect, including casting, production, music, and digital special effects, fostering collaboration and creativity.
