Admissions

Our Admissions Policy

The admissions policy at JIS reflects the aims and mission of the school:

Through a positive learning environment, the Japanese International School respects the diversity of its community and provides quality education by empowering students to think, create, discover, solve problems, become responsible citizens, and achieve their personal best.

JIS’s admissions policy is inclusive and non-discriminatory. In addition, we are sensitive to students’ individual needs and will provide a wide range of support within our means for students who have language and learning needs, physical and medical conditions, or social, emotional and behavioural issues. The school may require parents to allow, support and finance their children to undergo additional external assessment in order for them to receive appropriate and comprehensive support.

Application Process

STEP 1: Complete the JIS Admissions Application Form. Please note there is a HK$600 application fee which will need to be settled and proof of payment uploaded before submitting this form.

STEP 2: Once the form is completed, the School will contact you for an interview - should a space be available.

STEP 3: Interviews are held at JIS. Please read the 'Interview Process' section below for more information.

STEP 4: Once the interview is completed, the Principal will meet with the parents to discuss the School and also the interview. The School will try to inform the family as soon as possible after the interview - this is usually within the next few days, except for group interviews for Reception and P1 class.

We look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and your child.
