Admission to JIS is based on an interview which takes place with the school Principal and /or a group of the class teachers. The main requirement for entry to the school is based on a students' ability to access our curriculum using English. The school does have an ESL (English as a Second Language) programme but the proprtion of students accepted for this progamme is limited. Interviews are held only when places are available but can be arranged at any point during the school year should a vacancy arise. Interview for Reception and some Primary 1 places are held as group interviews with several children attending at the same time. This allows the children to feel more relaxed and to be able to enjoy some time with a groups of our teachers in a fun / play orientated situation. These interviews usually last for around 1 hour. Parents ae informed of the results of their interview as quickly as possible, usually the next day. Application for Reception and Primary 1 classes is encouraged at least the year before entry as interviews are held in Janauary or February of the admission year for an August start. Interview fee is HK$ 500. Entry to JIS, in line with other International Schools in Hong Kong, is by date of birth. Below is listed our dates for entry to our current year groups.
