Parent Involvement

Parents are always welcome to become involved with the activities organised at school.  ESSPA plans a variety of activities throughout the year and would welcome any support you can offer.  Please read the infomrtaion below regarding our on-going and special activities.  If you would like to help with any of the activities, or if you have any new ideas, please contact a board member.  Click here to be re-directed the the committee page.

Class Representatives

ESSPA works with the parent volunteers who serve as Class Representatives.  Class Representatives facilitate communication by disseminating class-specific information, recruit help with cooking, arts and crafts and various other tasks as requested by the teachers and ESSPA.  The Representatives for this year are: (to be updated shortly - September 2010)

ESSPA  Committees

Committees have been organized to plan and carry out specific activities that benefit JIS.  The following committees are currently looking for volunteers to help with:

  • Fundraising
  • Special Lunches
  • Christmas Party
  • Chinese New Year
  • Graduation
  • End of Year party

Fund Raising

At times during the year ESSPA will hold fund raising events such as social evenings, special lunches for the children and special snacks.   Each event will raise money for a designated charity.  These charities include the school’s own wish list, “Changing Young Lives” and “Room to Read”

Special Lunches

ESSPA organizes special lunches such as pizza, curry, hot dogs, etc. to raise funds.  Parent volunteers shop for groceries, prepare food and distribute to the students. These lunches take place every 1-2 months and ESSPA helps the class parent organise some volunteers.

Christmas Party

A Christmas Party for the children is often held just before the Christmas holidays. ESSPA and volunteers set  up and decorate  the venue,  arrange party activities and  provide/prepare food.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is a major celebration in Hong Kong and will often be the main whole school celebration.  Why not be part of a team responsible for coming up with decoration  ideas, setting up and arranging  the catering.

We also organise a Chinese New Year Celebration lunch for the whole school community. This is a fabulous occasion but needs some volunteers to help co-ordinate the food.

Graduation

ESSPA arranges decorations for the annual P6 graduation ceremony.  This event is held at the end of June each year.

Year End Party

To celebrate the end of the school year, ESSPA has sometimes helped organise an end of year party. Sometimes the classes have their own parties and class parents help to co-ordinate the food and activities.
