JIS - Japanese International School, Hong Kong

Our students come from a wide range of cultures and nationalities. They are true ambassadors for the I.B. Learner Profile giving life, fun and passion to their time at JIS. We encourage them to be truly involved in all aspects of their learning and to enjoy all aspects of their life at school

We use English as our language of 'inclusion' as all of our students can communicate in English. We work, play and learn in English. However, we do appreciate that many of our students can speak languages other than English and this is celebrated.

We explore the many diverse aspect of culture, celebrations and festivities found within our students through our Programme of Inquiry and also some special events during the school year.

Our focus is on an understanding of both the world of Hong Kong but also that beyond. We actively discuss with our students events around the world and encourage them to take action to support those in need around the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

Our students currently support the Guojiashang Friendhsip Primary School  in Gansu Province. They have raised the money to rebuild the school and now maintain it with fresh books and stationery each school year. The school is beginning to expand, attracting more and more students from the local, mountainous villages in Western China. We also support a range of other charities for example; Animals Asia and Room to Read.
