Information Communication Technology

comp_lab.jpgIn line with our philosophy of ensuring that our students are prepared for their future world, we are keen to ensure that they have appropriate access and training in the use of ICT. To this end, we have ensured that all classrooms are equipped with desktop computers and are in the process of extending our provision of laptops around the school. This will be an ongoing process to ensure that all students can access appropriate technology to ensure that they can get the most out of their Units of Inquiry. We also have a fully equipped computer lab which houses enough computers to ensure individual access.

Students at JIS have many opportunities to develop computer technology skills. Classes have a scheduled weekly skills based lessons in our well-equipped computer laboratory, with the support of a specialist teacher. Here, students have access to the Internet and a range of interactive software in order to develop their computing skills.

In addition to our 40 laboratory computers, students also have regular access to our portable bank of laptop computers. These laptops are wirelessly networked and provide the opportunity for unique learning experiences within the classrooms.

Most of our grade level classrooms are now equipped with interactive whiteboards. This allows our teachers to deliver our curriculum in a more exciting and innovative way. Our whiteboards are used in variety of curriculum areas, including maths, language and to develop our Units of Inquiry.
