I.B. Mission
International Baccalaureate organisation: Mission Statement for all of its schools around the world:
The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
In order to be an authorised I.B. World School a school has to go through an extensive development process. This includes being a 'candidate school' for around 2 years followed by a verification visit from I.B. trained staff who evaluate the school to establish if it can become a member of their organisation. Following the candidacy stage a school continues to develop and is then re-visited for Evaluation by I.B. trained staff firstly after 3 years and then every 5 years.
JIS has been an authorised I.B. World School since 2007 and has been evaluated to high acclaim in 2010 and 2015. Our next evaluation will begin in 2019, leading to a visit from I.B. staff in late 2020.
