General information update:

Important: Japanese Teacher for 2019 -20 - Recruitment open NOW.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, JIS - International Section is urgently recruiting for a teacher of Japanese for our international primary school. The start date for this position can be negotiable but if possible August 2019 is preferred.

The teacher of Japanese would be responsible for implementing a Japanese language and cultural programme in the international section of our school. As the school is an authorised I.B. World School all students study an additional language and JIS offers Mandarin or Japanese to its students.  Students come from a variety of international backgrounds and levels of understanding of Japanese, so lessons are differentiated to suit ability and experience levels. The Japanese class within the school is fully integrated into the programme of inquiry / curriculum to allow for units of inquiry to be fully taught in a transdisciplinary way. The Japanese teacher works alongside all other teaching staff and the PYP coordinator to develop a curriculum to challenge and develop the students. There is also a full time assistant for the class to support groupings and differentiation. The school has an established Japanese curriculum which can be further developed by creative, new colleagues.

The candidate for this position should have experience or strong interest in teaching Japanese language and culture; should be open minded and creative to work alongside class based collagues when integrating the study of Japanese into other areas of the curriculum; be creative and dynamic in sharing Japanese culture with other international cultural groups; have proven teaching and learning experience  within a multi-cultural primary school environment.

Interested persons are invited to contact the Principal - Mr Simon Walton outlining their qualifications and experience. A letter of application and C.V. with JIS application form (below) should be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Depending on availabilty (potentially due to resignation period) it is hoped to arrange some interviews in Hong Kong in August 2019 or later. A start date of August 21st 2019, would be preferred but it can be delayed to October 2019 or January 2020 for the correct candidate.

We look forward to hearing from you.
