The Japanese International School of Hong Kong was founded in 1997 in its present campus and has served the Japanese and international community of Hong Kong for 20 years. The school is a large, well designed building that allows for a huge range of educational options within the campus. The international section of the school has around 170 students, whilst the Japanese section of the school has around 430 students. The sections of the school operate independent curriculums but manage the facilities of the buklding to maixmum effect together. The international section teaches in English with Japanese or Mandarin as additional languages of study, whilst the Japanese section of the school teaches in Japanese, with English as an additional language of study.

The international section of JIS is an authorised I.B. World school using the PYP (Primary Years Programme) curriculum with its students.
